One Christmas Wish

It's my one and only Christmas wish.


I was anxious yet excited that day.
So many familiar faces.
All greeted me with delight.
But my eyes wandered.
Where are you?

Until the night closed in.
My heart searched for you.
But nothing.
Not even a shadow.

With all the courage I have.
I tried to reach out.
But I was rejected.
And I was stunned.

I went home blank.
I know I shouldn't have tried.
It's a stupid thing to do.
